With deep sorrow, Dawson’s Mortuary announced the passing of Mr. Willie Clarence Smith, of Mitchell, Georgia, who peacefully transitioned from this life on June 11, 2025.  

Mr. Willie Clarence Smith passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Thomson Manor Nursing Home in Thomson, Georgia. Born on November 9, 1954, in Glascock County, he was the beloved son of the late Edna Neal Smith and Bill Smith.

Willie grew up in Glascock County, where he attended the county school system. From a young age he cultivated a spirit of kindness and humility that would remain his hallmark throughout life.

At an early age, Willie accepted Christ and joined William Grove Baptist Church in Warrenton, Georgia. His quiet devotion and gentle presence were a blessing to the congregation, and he found comfort in his faith.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Bill Smith, and by his brother, Bill Smith Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Seven loving sisters, Laura Smith (Dennis), Catherine Ivey, Katherine Smith Mary Jane Smith, Mary Julia Smith (Dennis) all of Warrenton, GA, Christine Ivey (A.C.) – Gibson, GA, Christine Renfroe – Sandersville, GA, One devoted brother, Ulysee Smith – Gibson, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold dear his gentle smile and caring heart.
