Dawson’s Mortuary announces the transition of Mr. Willie Abram, Jr. formerly of Sparta, Georgia. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this time of sorrow.
Willie Abram Jr., affectionately known as “Shawdy,” was born on July 15, 1932, in Sparta, Georgia, to Mary and Willie Abram Sr. He was unable to complete school because he needed to help support his family by working in the fields. In 1960, he left Georgia and moved to New York City in search of better opportunities. There he met his bride Virginia L. Walker in Brooklyn, New York, and they married in 1964. This union produced four children: Clayton, Alexandria , Brandi, and Quenton.
In 1966, he relocated his family to Niagara Falls, New York, for work at the advice of his younger brother Curtis. Two years (1968) later he again relocated his family to Rochester, NY for work at Eastman Kodak Park. A few years later became a laborer with Local 435, a position he held until his retirement in 1996.
He leaves to cherish his memory are his daughters Alexandria Abram and Brandi Smith (Manley Smith); his sons Clayton Abram, Quenton Abram, and Mark Cunningham; Seven grandchildren and several great-grands, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Willie will be fondly remembered for loving his family.
