Mr. William “Jerry” Smith was born Thursday, July 10, 1952, to the late Leonard and Emma Lou Smith in Atlanta, Georgia. He departed this earthly life to be with his heavenly father on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Warrenton Health and Rehab Center.
William attended Central High School in Newnan, Georgia. He had a passion for music. William enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, and going to church. At an early age he gave his life to Christ and joined the House of God, House of Prayer for All Nations under the leadership of Bishop Winston Grier, Sr.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Emma Lou Smith; wife, Earnestine Smith; two sons, William and Rickey Gresham; one stepson, James Ivey, Jr.; and siblings, Mary Bowers, Johnny May Bowers, Sadie May Bowers, Mary Strozie, Edna Ransby, Wilane Evers, Jerome Smith, Leonard Smith (twin) and Howard Adams.
He leaves to cherish his most special memories: his two daughters, Charlotte (Castille) Montgomery of Montgomery, AL, and Tanika (Kelvin) Ransom of Sparta, GA; one son, Quadel Smith of Augusta, GA; two stepsons, Viencient Bly and John Ivey, both of Atlanta, GA; one twin sister, Glenda Carr (twin) of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Donald Smith of Atlanta, GA; a niece and caregiver more like a daughter, Kawanda Grier Hill of Thomson, GA; godson, Rosevelt Jones, Sr., of Warrenton, GA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and others relatives and friends.
