Tony Dewayne Ficklin, AKA “Chief” entered into eternal rest on December 11, 2022, at AU in Augusta, Georgia.

Tony Dewayne Ficklin was born to the late Genellen Ficklin Jones and the late Horace Smith on July 1, 1960.

At an early age, Tony accepted Christ into his life as his personal savior and joined Thankful Baptist Church in Jewell, Georgia. He also enjoyed fellowship and worshipping with New Zion Hill AME Church in Thomson, Georgia.

Tony graduated from Warren County High School in 1978 and his career spanned with proud service in the US Army from November 1979-1985. He retired from Augusta-Richmond County in November 2015 as an inspector and electrical engineer.

Tony was a loving and awesome husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend who loved his family and friends and enjoyed all outdoor activities.

In addition to his parents, our beloved Tony Ficklin was preceded in death by his supportive aunt and uncles, Dorothy Shivers, Asberry Ficklin, Jr., Willie Albert Ficklin, and Wallace Ficklin.

He was raised by his grandmother, Christine Hudgeon Ficklin, and the late Asberry Ficklin and Lula Kitchens. He was blessed and raised with supportive aunties and uncles as his siblings, Helen (Ricky) Pittman, Johnnie Mae (Frank) Gilbert, Juanita Hill, Ernestine Ficklin, Georgette (Reverend Lester Woods), Willie T. (Bernice) Ficklin, and Milton (Cynthia) Ficklin, and a special cousin, “Tony look-alike,” Dennis “Jack” (Reverend Carlotta) Ficklin.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: a devoted wife, Linda Lowe-Ficklin of thirty-two years; two sons, Cedric Ficklin and Tyler Ficklin, both of Thomson, GA; three sisters, Tammy (Lorenzo) Pitts of NY, Tiffany Jones of Atlanta, GA, and Freda Bradshaw of Augusta, GA; four brothers, Steven (Alice) Jones of NY, Gregory Smith and Christopher Smith, both of Kansas City, MO, and Dennis Kitchens of Warrenton, GA; grandmother, Christine Ficklin of Warrenton, GA; stepmother, Dorothy Smith of Kansas City, MO; aunts, Frostine Castleberry of Augusta, GA, Willene Smith of Sparta, GA, and Mary (Walter) Dotson of Atlanta, GA; loving mother-in-law, Martha J.
