A Life In Repose
“For I am ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…..
~2 Timothy 4:6-8
How great it must be to allow the former things to be passed away; to gaze upon the master’s face; to simply walk around heaven….All day. Surrounded by the love of her children and open arms out stretched from God, Mrs. Susie Mae Baugh embraced her savior’s call to eternal life on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Navicent Health. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis Davis and Earnest S. Davis and nephew Louis Davis, Jr.
Susie Mae Baugh, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Mae Ellis Choice Davis, was born in the outskirts of Wilkinson County on March 20, 1937, but raised in the Devereaux Community of Hancock County. It was in this community where she understood and revered God’s word; therefore accepting Christ at a tender age at Powell Grove Baptist Church. Upon receiving formal education in Hancock County Schools, “Sue Mae”, as she was affectionately called, was employed by the very same school system that afforded her a secondary education and later the Hancock County Health Department; a position she held until her health no longer allowed.
To know “Sue Mae” was to practice the 3 L’s; love, laughter, and living life. And that was exactly what she did and encouraged anyone who encountered her to do. Her big heart allowed her to raise three children whom she adored; Robert Jr. Priscilla, and Tremaine. This big heart extended to her five grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
“Sue Mae” was quite the conversationalist and loved the opportunity to prepare food straight from the soul for family and friends alike; particularly flavorful collard greens. Reading her bible was a daily routine and taping her fingers to gospel music was a must. She was an admirer of fashion and jewelry and was known for her signature red nail polish. I am going to live life and give God all the Glory every day was her mantra. A love for good people and just telling it like it was allowed God to loan her to this world for 79 glorious years.
Her legacy will forever continue in the pieces of her she leaves on this side of Jordan in her devoted children; Robert Baugh, Jr. of Milledgeville, GA, Priscilla (Gary) Hill, and Tremaine (Pamela) Ingram both of Sparta, GA, five doting grandchildren; Whitney (Corey) Bryant of Atlanta, GA, Britney Baugh of Tulsa, OK, Garreon Holsey of Utah, AL, Kammeon Holsey, Kauhajoki, Finland, and
Arecia Williams of Milledgeville, GA; seven great-grand children; four nieces; Cynthia Morris, Glenda Davis, Joyce (Larry) Fulton, and Briggit (Darvin) Vincent, one nephew; Ronnie (Keisha) Davis two devoted friends; Mary Hampton and Susie Hogan, sister-in-law Catherine Davis, a caretaker; Trudy Gilbert and a host of other sadden great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
