On January 4, 1934, God decided to place a beautiful flower with Judge and Martha Jane Evans to love and nurture and they named her Sunbeam.
Just like her name, Sunbeam was a ray of sunshine wherever she went. She was loving, kind, and generous, and people always remembered her for gentle and compassionate spirit.
At an early age, Sunbeam accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and joined the Rocky Branch Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mother’s Board and the Missionary Department. She also attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
She was married to Charlie Lee Wilson and from that union, they had ten children. Sunbeam loved being with family, fishing, cooking, and gardening. She worked at Warren County Health and Rehabilitation Center as a CNA until her health failed.
On July 9, 2024, God looked around His garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw his flower, Sunbeam’s tired face. He put His arms around her and lifted her to her rest and He planted her back in His garden forevermore.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lee Wilson, and four children, Yvonne Kendricks, Burnestine Evans, Gerald Wilson and June Wilson, her parents, Judge and Martha Jane Evans, and her siblings: Charlie, Effie, Rubbie Mae, Judge, Jr., Janie Lou, Robert Lewis, and Willie Roy.
Sunbeam’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her children, Charlie C. Wilson, Eileen Willis, Henry Lee (Mary) Wilson, Debra (Johnny) Alexander, Allen (Sakeenah) Wilson, and Valerie (Alfornia) Moss; a son-in-law, Jimmy Evans; three sisters-in-law, Annette Rolle, Carolyn Gilbert, and Delores Wilson; and two brothers-in-law, Lorenzo Wilson and HB Wilson. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, Gregory, Cherie, Sherika, Shalita, Twanda, Datril, Shequita, Antonio, Chasity, Riketta, LaTiegrè, Cameron, LaCondra, Jabari, Shaveria, LaKela, Diontavius, Demontè, Stedman, Tiera, Anthony, and Andrea; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, a special friend/sister, Mattie Franklin, an honorary son, Cortez Wentz, Sr., nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and countless friends who were blessed to know her.
