On a beautiful day in June a flower was born! Rose was born June 11, 1956, to the late Earl and Elaine Lewis in Atlanta, GA (Sparta, GA). She was the third child and first daughter of her parents.
On a somber day, January 16, 2026, Rosemary (Rose) Lewis Clark peacefully departed this earth surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jonathan Clark, her grandmother, Emily S. Davis, and her brothers, Amos Mosley, Michael, Richard, and Anthony Lewis.
Rose was a visual beauty! A humble, loving, affectionate, animal lover, who you had to know to understand that she was also extremely humorous, fun-loving, a great dancer, could hold a tune in and out of the shower, loved music, traveling, shopping, writing, cooking and eating fine cuisine, outside festivals and concerts, especially jazz…. a Renaissance woman, the quintessential life of the party.
Rose was reared in Sparta, GA where she attended her family church, Saint Mark AME in her youth. She also matriculated through Hancock County Schools and graduated early in 1973 with the Class of 1974 from Hancock Central High School. She went on to attend Texas A&M University and Florida A&M University before landing at Savannah State University to complete her degree in Biology. From there she built a career as a medical technologist until her health began to fail.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her only daughter, Mia Lewis-Jackson (Cassine, Sr.); her grand-children, Niambi, Eden, Amaiyah, Cassine, Jr. and Assada Jackson; her sister, Yolanda M. Hunt (George); her uncles and aunts Willie Earnest Latimore, Anniebelle Ziegler, Willie Mosley, Johnnie Mosley, Brenda M. Terrell, Loria Moran, and Joyce Mosley; her sister cousins, Veronica Lawrence (David), Patricia Williams, Mamie Hurt, Jeanette Giles (Isaac), and Lounelle Fluellen; her sisters-in-law, Susan Mosley, Karen Lewis, and Priscilla Lewis; her nieces and nephews, Tarsha, LaDriel (Theresa), Elton, Michael, Tamika, Tiffany, Marcus, Diarra (her ace and road dog), Tabitha, Destiny, Dennis, Jr. and a host of other relatives, classmates, family friends, and surrogate daughter, Erika.
She also leaves to mourn her, some very dear friends, Denise Lewis, Gwen Greene Ashley, Lisa Ross Clarke, Debra Jackson, and her truly devoted friend until the end, Nathaniel Jackson, Jr. (Bill).
Service entrusted to Dawson’s Mortuary ~ 98 Hopgood Street Warrenton, Georgia.
