Richard Fountain was born May 19, 1936 to the late Clarence Fountain and Katie Mae Griffin. He was raised by his stepmother the late Corrine Fountain.
He joined Bethel AME Church at an early age. He was a hard worker and loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Fountain; brother, Frank Brinkley; and sister, Betty Huff.
He leaves to cherish his memories: nine daughters, Gloria (David) Jones, Atlanta GA. Angela Myricks and Cinderella Myricks, Norwood GA. Betty Gilliam, Mary Wilson, Shirley (Terry) Griffin, Thomasine (Derrick) Duggan, and Barbara Fountain all of Warrenton GA, Corina Thompson, Thomson, GA; seven sons, Michael Fountain, James (Darnelle) Myrick, and David (Elizabeth) Wilburn all of Warrenton, GA, Richard (Marie) Fountain, Jr, Thomson GA, Jimmy Wilburn, Sparta, GA, Travis Kitchens, Sandersville, GA, and Michael Wilburn, Macon, GA, forty-seven grandchildren, sixty-eight great grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sibling Ruthie (David) Reese, Josie Mae Salad, Sarah Helen Moss, all of Thomson, GA, Jessie (Debra) Felts and Willie Felts; both of Atlanta, GA, one granddaughter, Shaniece Gilbert close to his heart. Our father was loved so dearly and brought so much happiness to the many hearts he touched.He was always kind, caring, and understanding towards people. And if help was ever needed, then it came so freely from him. He was a blessing and Gods gift to everyone he came across and brought so much joy to us.
