Paula Hawkins Merriweather was born on September 20, 1947, in Washington-Wilkes, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth (Geraldine Gilliam) Hawkins. She departed on April 29, 2023, at the Warrenton Health and Rehabilitation Center. She joined Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sparta, GA. Many years ago, she attended the Warren County school system. Her last place of employment was with Garland of Warrenton, GA. Then, she became a homemaker until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Dorsey, Emmaline Smith and Pauline Brown; and brothers, Ernest Hawkins, MacArthur Hawkins, Paul Hawkins, and Alton Hawkins.
Paula leaves behind to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Eddie Gene Merriweather; son, Mr. Donald Eugene Merriweather of Macon, GA; daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Denise Merriweather (Gregory) Burnett of Warrenton, GA; three grandchildren, Kanyla Merriweather of Macon, GA, and Gregory J. Burnett and Jarrius Burnett, both of Warrenton, GA; two sisters-in-law, Perline Ivey of Warrenton, GA, and Joyce Merriweather of Macon, GA; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Calvin Coachman of Brooklyn, New York, and Jerome Merriweather of Pensacola, FL; dear friend, Mrs. Susie Mae Andrews; and a host of nieces and nephews.
