Pastor Rickey Renoy Jones Sr.

With heartfelt sympathy, Dawson’s Mortuary announces the transition of Pastor Rickey R. Jones, Sr., Norwood, Georgia.

Pastor Rickey Renoy Jones, Sr., was born in Thomson, McDuffie County, Georgia, on October 2, 1967. Rickey transitioned on July 11, 2025, in North Augusta, South Carolina. Rickey was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Linton “Doc” Jones, Sr., and Mrs. Lucy R. Jones; sister, Lucille Jones; brothers, Lenton “Jake” Jones, Willie “T” Jones, Tony C. Jones, and Jimmie D. Jones; and brother-in-law, Jesse Woods.

Rickey is survived by his sister, Rosa Berry (James Berry) of Norwood, Georgia, and Reanor Woods of Forest Park, Georgia; children, Rickey R. Jones, Jr., Timothy C. Jones, and Bianca C. Jones of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jones of Albany, Georgia, and Vera Jones of Camak, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Rickey gave his life to Christ at an early age at Bethel AME Church, where he served as a Junior Steward, Choir Director, facilitated the Young People’s Division, and was very dedicated to his services with the Lord. Rickey graduated from Warren County High School in 1985, where he played the trumpet. After high school, Rickey served in the United States Army during the Gulf War in Saudi Arabia. He then went on to receive his Bachelor’s and Master of Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University, where he served as the Class Representative and led his classmates in prayer.

The Lord called Pastor Jones to start Agape Love Fellowship Ministries in 2019 in Norwood, Georgia, where he served faithfully the Augusta Housing Authority, Young Life, and for preaching and speaking at various churches around the CSRA. Most recently, Pastor Jones served as a City Councilman for the City of Norwood, Georgia. Rickey will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, jovial spirit and smile, and his love and passion for leading children and young adults to salvation through Jesus Christ.
