Bertha Mae Jones was born in Sparta, Georgia, on March 11, 1954, to the parentage of Nathan, Sr., and Gladys Chatman. Bertha is a graduate of Hancock Central High School, class of 1972. She was a 25 year employee of Healthtex of Warrenton, Georgia. She was also a dedicated employee of Rheem and Saint Gobain Industries. Bertha was a breath of fresh air and grace to all of those that had the privilege to operate in her presence. She really represented her name, Bertha, very well.
On Wednesday, May 27th, our beloved Bert, as she was so affectionately called, got that delicate whisper from God saying come on home, job well done my daughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Julian Chatman, Nathan Chatman, Jr., and David Chatman; one sister, Dorothy Jean Chatman; father, Nathan Chatman, Sr.; and one nephew, Natavious Watson.
Bertha’s memory will be cherished by: two daughters, Tiffany Jones-Atkinson (Ronnie) of Milledgeville, GA, Lakesha Jones-Clark (Shedric) of Sparta, GA; one son. David Jones of Evans. GA, four grandchildren, Trinity Lewis, Jordyn Ingram, Tevion Jones, and Dallas King; mother, Gladys Chatman of Sparta, GA; four brothers, Clifford, Amos and Henry (Kalandra) Chatman, all of Sparta, GA, and Mario Chatman (Kirsten) of Barnesville, GA; sister-in-law Mildred Chatman of Albany, GA; a very special friend, Ezekiel Harris; a best friend for life, Denise Barge; four nieces, Davishala Chatman-Williams (Dominic), Kuaansuela Chatman, Jessica Chatman, and Skyy Chatman; one nephew, Julian Chatman; and a host of uncles, aunts, family, and friends.
