“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10 KJV
The Lord, in his glorious majesty, came to visit a soldier and whispered in her ear, you have defeated cancer and by my stripes you are healed on this day, October 31, 2022.
Annie Laura Andrews was born on June 13, 1946 to the late Deacon Oliver and Onar Moss Andrews.
She was a baptized member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church and served in the usher ministry until she could no longer stand to be a doorkeeper. She also served as the Sunday school secretary for many years. During this time, she ensured that her son, nieces, and nephews attended Sunday school and church service every Sunday. She also served as the primary teacher for vacation bible school, where her grandsons, great-nieces, and great-nephew came to know God’s word.
She worked for Thomson Company until the plant was closed. She then became a housekeeper at the Warrenton Rehabilitation Center until it was time for her to retire due to health reasons.
Annie was the aunt who always had snacks at her house. You could always get cookies out of the pig cookie jar. She introduced the children to McDonald’s because she loved it, too.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Oliver, David, Willie Ben, Mark, and Richard; and her sister, Wylene.
