Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God, I will strengthen thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness – Isaiah 41:10
Alvinia Nicely Liowns was born on June 8, 1950 to the parentage of Willie and Claudine Nicely, Jr. in Norwood, GA. Alvinia departed her earthly journey on November 13, 2025.
Alvinia received her elementary and high school education in the public schools of Warren County, GA. She desired to further her education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Education from the Albany State University in Albany, GA. She would later obtain her Master of Arts in Education degree from Central Michigan University.
She married Willie Henry Liowns and they welcomed a daughter, Necole. Alvinia and Necole were devoted to each other. Alvinia and Necole saw the world together; they ventured to Paris, London, Amsterdam, and Morocco on mother & daughter adventures. Alvinia also loved photography and beautifully captured many moments via her cameras throughout her life. Necole has some of her favorite photos taken by her mom hanging in her home.
Alvinia had a deep love of education and had a dedicated career as a Mathematics Teacher for 30 years at Wrens Middle School. Despite retiring from teaching in Wrens in June 2003, Alvinia returned to the classroom and taught for a few more years at North Augusta Middle School. Alvinia was devoted to her students and generously gave them her time, care and wisdom.
Having a love for God and desire to serve the church, Alvinia joined the Walker Chapel C.M.E. Church in Norwood, GA at an early age. After moving to Augusta years later, she continued her service to the Lord by joining the Freedom Zone Worship Center.
Alvinia’s parents, Willie and Claudine Nicely, Jr, preceded her in death. Alvinia leaves to mourn her passing, to cherish her memory, and to celebrate her life: her loving daughter, Necole Liowns; her loving brothers, Willie A. Nicely (Joann), and David Nicely (Linda); her loving and devoted sisters Barbara Jenkins, Jannette Nicely, Joann Chester, and Claudette Nicely; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and former students who will miss her dearly.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus – Philippians 4:7
