Mrs. Mayola Young Battle, affectionately known as “Aunt May,” was born on January 29, 1944 in Warren County, Georgia to the late Mr. Jimmie and Mrs. Ola Mae Lee Young. She was the fifth of twelve siblings; five preceded her in death.
She joined Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. During her adulthood, she served as a Missionary and sang in the choir until her health failed. She enjoyed watching Western but, most of all, she loved reading her Bible.
Mrs. Battle was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Willie Gene Battle on July 15, 1967. To this union, two children were born.
God called her to rest on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the comfort on her home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Ms. Vicky R. Battle of Mitchell, GA; one son, Mr. Shymaine M. Battle of Mitchell, GA; children she raised, Mr. Ricky (Celeste) Young, Keith J. Robertson, Mr. Richie A. Young, Mr. Vincente (Cynthia) Jones, Mr. Curtis Robertson, Mr. Nickie Robertson, Mr. Mikel Kendrick, Mr. Chase Menchaca, Mr. Devin Young, Mrs. Shaketa (Kevin) Williams, Ms. Demetress Davis, Ms. Tamia Menchaca, Ms. Asia Young Ms. Ja’Myia Burley; goddaughters, Mrs. Teresa Grant Williams, Ms. Joyce Burley; dear nieces, Mrs. Rosemary (Lewis) Bray, Mrs. Monique (Timmenton) Menchaca, Ms. Stephanie Young, Mrs. Juliette Hampton; two brothers, Sylester Young, Stevenson (Mary) Young; four sisters, Cornelia Thrower, Brenda Robertson, Alvester (Charles) Walton, Gwendolyn Young; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; special friends, Luree Culver, Edna Warthen; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
