Lola Marie (Gibson) Hillman was born on April 23, 1945, to the late Lozell and Hattie Lou Gibson in Mitchell, Georgia (Glascock County). She chose Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
She was swept off her feet while following her grandfather, a Baptist minister, to various churches by Edgar Leon Hillman. When she regained her footing, they were married on March 12, 1966, at her family home in Mitchell, Georgia surrounded by family. Their God-centered union blossomed for 53 years until God called her husband home suddenly. Three children were born to this union.
Lola was very active in church all of her life; she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for 35 years, organized and participated in several choirs, and held various positions in Sunday School and church administration.
Lola was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and entrepreneur. She became an accomplished author writing the book, “If He Brings You to It, He Will See You Through It.” She also stressed and thrived on academics by earning the following certifications: Licensed Practical Nurse, Master Cosmetologist, Emergency Medical Technician and Certified Nursing Assistant.
Lola answered the call of the Lord to come home at 7:15 p.m. on June 7, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. She leaves to cherish: three children, Quincy Leon Hillman, Charres Hillman, and Candice Hillman; two grandsons, Quincy Leon Hillman II and Elijah Bryce Hillman; as well as a brother; several sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews; in-laws; and friends.
