Mrs. Ethel Leslie

On February 11, 2021, God felt that his heavenly Choir was missing one of its best singers, so he ever so gently reached down and chose Ethel, and added her, completing his choir.

Ethel Ficklin-Leslie, known to many as “Grandma,” or “Ma,” was born as August 18, 1926, to the late Viola and Jamie Ficklin in Jewell, GA. She attended Sparta School, and attended Trinity CME Church. In her teenage years, she met and married the love of her life, the late Arthur Leslie, Sr., having 11 children. Ethel was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.

Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, the late Arthur Leslie, Sr.; six children, Mary Lou Pitts, Virginia Lesley, Georgia Ann Leslie, Rochelle Leslie, Nathaniel Leslie, Sr., and Arthur Leslie, Jr.; and ten sisters and brothers, whom she loved and adored.

Ethel’s memories will be cherished by her children, Charles Ficklin, Harvey Leslie, Sharon Leslie of Sparta, GA, Brenda (Christopher) Wright of Ellenwood, GA, Jacqueline McCrary of Covington, GA, and Viola Leslie of Augusta, GA; sisters, Evelyn and Mary Ficklin of Long Beach, NY; brother, Willie E. Ficklin of Warrenton, GA; a special dear family friend and caregiver, Michele Farley; and a host of grandchildren, great-grands, great-great-grands, nieces, nephews, and other close loved ones.
