Mr. Otis Leslie was born to the late Charlie and Mary L. Leslie on July23, 1952.
Otis received his education at Hancock Central High School, where he participated in baseball and football. He met who he would marry, Mattie P. Warthen Leslie, during their school years. April 21, 2023, they celebrated forty-eight years of being one. Otis had a love for motorcycles and racing cars. He loved to ride his motorcycle with his son on the handlebars, pushing his bike through the yard. He was also a dedicated coach of five years to the Mayfield Bomberettes Softball team, Mayfield, Georgia. His love for sports made him an excellent coach to his team.
Following his education, he entered into the work field where he worked in the logging industry. Otis dedicated over fifty years to the logging industry as a loader operator. He worked in this field until his last day. Otis was preceded in death by four loving brothers, Milton Walker of Warrenton, GA, Elvin Leslie of Crawfordville, GA, and Darryl and Dennis Leslie, both of Sparta, GA.
His love and memories will be forever cherished by: his wife, Mattie Pearl Leslie of forty-eight years; children, Shondre Leslie of Sparta, GA, and Anthony (Marisha) Leslie of Covington, GA; he spoiled his eight grandchildren as he did his own children, Rickevia Leslie and Ken’Niye Davis, both of Sparta, GA, Adien Leslie, Trenton Leslie, and Tegan Leslie, all of McDonough, GA, and Azariah Harper, Montrell Graham, and Jaxon Warren, all of Covington, GA; three loving and caring sisters, Barbara (Ernest) Jackson of Warrenton, GA, Arstine (Willie) Roberts of White Plains, GA, and Mary Louise (Johnny) Howard of Warrenton, GA; three loving and caring brothers, Clinton (Shirley) Leslie of Sparta, GA, Alton (Della) Leslie of Warrenton, GA, and Marvin (Willie Mae)
of Sparta, GA; six sisters-in-law, Berniece Warthen and Vasti Latimore of Sparta, GA, Melba Leslie of Crawfordville, GA, Pearline (Golden) Lott of Marietta, GA, Geraldine (Alexander) Barnes, Sparta, GA and Bernistine (Charles) Hill of Thomson, GA; three supportive brothers-in- law, Grady (Sara) Warthen of Warrenton, GA, Willie M. (Judy) Warthen of Eatonton, GA, and Tyrone (Caroline) Warthen of Appling, GA; one loving aunt, Hazel Perry of Atlanta, GA; two uncles, Curtis Battle of Atlanta, GA, and Willie (Julia) Battle of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. His smile and friendship will be remembered by Victor Lamar and Leo Harris. The love Otis had and shown to others will be cherished forever.
