Mr. Lee Ivey Sr. Obituary

Mr. Lee Ivey, Sr., affectionately known as “Cowboy,” was born on September 24, 1954, to both the late Clara Ivey Tanksley and Jessie Jones. On July 5, 2020, God dispatched his angel to summon Lee Ivey, Sr., to surrender his CDL and follow him to heaven.

Lee was always full of life. He greeted everyone with a smile and an accent. He had a passion for driving trucks and made a 50 year career out of it. His career as a truck driver allowed him to visit many places all over the United States. He enjoyed spending time with family and had a heart of gold. He was a faithful member of Walking By Faith Ministry, where he served as assistant chairman.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, LeeSander Ivey; brother, James Tanksley; and sister, Lillie Bell King.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving fiancé, Gloria Stephens of Sparta, GA; seven daughters, Shelladina Yarber of Dearing, GA, Cassandra (Jesse) Hanson of Norwood, GA, Ladona Johnson of Thomson, GA, Candace (Alfonzo) Mitchell of Warrenton, GA, Hillary (Charles) Schofield of Augusta, GA, Quanes (Michael) Myrick of Grovetown, GA, and Valencia Ivey of Thomson, GA; five sons, Coriel Yarber of Augusta, GA, Antonio Lewis of Augusta, GA, Lee Ivey, Jr., of Thomson, GA, Frank (Jasmine) Ivey of Augusta, GA, and Jadaun (Miquesha) West of Thomson, GA; a brother, Willie (Alma) Tanksley of Sharon, GA; 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Dorothy (Melvin) Chapman; a special daughter, Temika Johnson; special friends, Mary (Ben) Burley, Eddie Thorton, and Thorton Trucking Company; and a host of relatives and friends.
