Mr. Eddie Heath, Sr., also known as “Sugar Moot,” was born on February 3, 1929, to the late Mr. Edward and Essie B. Heath of Sparta, Georgia.
He received his education in the Hancock County Public School System. He joined the St. Lewis C.M.E. Church at an early age. Later, he met and married the love of his life, Virginia Lee Harris; from this union, five beautiful children were born, Eddie Heath, Jr., Mary Mayweather, Lillie Ruth, Randolph, and Edmond Heath.
Eddie went on to join the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Eddie moved his family to Atlanta, Georgia in 1965, where he lived in the Edgewood and Kirkwood communities. He was a faithful employee at Southern Iron Railroads for over 30 years until he retired. He was also employed with Thrall Rail in Winder, Georgia for 15 years. Eddie never met a stranger; he would give you the shirt off his back.
Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Heath, his two children, Eddie Heath, Jr., and Lillie Ruth Heath, brother, Charlie Heath, and sister, Bessie Mae Heath.
Sugar Moot leaves many fond, cherished memories to his loved ones: his two sons, Randolph (Brenda) Heath and Edmond (Judy) Heath; one daughter, Mary Mayweather; fifteen grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; one devoted, loving sister, Beatrice Heath Jones; Sheila Labon, who was like a daughter to him; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
