Mr. Dennis “Doc” King

“A time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to mourn.” – Ecclesiastes 3:2-4

Dennis King “Doc” was the son of the late Sammie King and Mary Dean King. He was born on July 28, 1965, in Augusta, Georgia. He earned his General Education Diploma and Commercial Driver’s License in June of 1988. He was married to Sally Mae Jackson King for over 33 years; she preceded him in death in 2023. His comedic personality and cheerful spirit impacted so many who encountered him and left a great touch on those who knew him the best. After driving for different trucking companies, he decided to work for Tripp AAA Company until his health failed. Dennis joined the church at an early age. He moved his membership to the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia, where he played his favorite instrument, the drums.

He volunteered by helping the homeless and teaching drum lessons to the community youth in his spare time. Dennis loved joking and making people laugh. He loved talking about God. He transitioned from this life on January 13, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his three children, Jessica Elaine King, David Delvocho Hampton, and Jessica Evone King; two grandchildren, Jamarion Windley and Jalena Reese; close personal companion, Debra Roane; children and a grandchild; he also leaves four sisters, Bertha D. Harris, Rose (Otis Rivers), Eva Evans, and Dr. Molly King; one brother, Sammie D. King, Jr.; two aunties, Viola P. Lowe and Helen Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
