Mary Ella Latimore Edwards-Jordan was granted her angel wings on November 28, 2022. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whom she has touched in some way throughout her memorable life. She was born on June 30, 1930, to the late Edward and Ella (Lamar) Latimore in Hancock County, Georgia.
“MaNin,” as she was affectionately called by all who knew and loved her, received the nickname because she always exuded such a care and love for family and friends, and she was small in stature. She was well loved and respected in her community and loved deeply by her family and friends.
MaNin loved the Lord. She accepted her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful servant of “the word.” Even at the age of ninety-two, she was a devoted servant of the Lord, read her Bible daily, and continued to get on her knees to pray until she was physically no longer able to do so, and even then she continued to find ways to serve the Lord and pray.
MaNin was preceded in death by her two husbands; three of her daughters, Diane Edwards, Mary Catherine Ashley, and Shirley Finch; one son, Robert Edwards; one daughter-in-law, Madeline Edwards, and two sons-in-law, Jimmy Gilbert, and Dennis Tucker.
She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy: four daughters, Louise Gilbert, Connie Tucker, Wilda (Billy) Williams, and Tina (Timothy) Heath; three sons, Eddie (Shuxian Qi) Edwards, John (Carolyn) Edwards, and Byron (Eula Mae) Edwards; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one very loyal and special friend whom she referred to as “her buddy,” Rosa Mae Tucker; special thanks to her daughter who cared for her mother from the onset of her illness to the day she transitioned, Louise Gilbert; great-grandchild who assisted in her care, Shaunae Shontrell Ashley; Habitat Home care nurses and Agape care; and heartfelt thank you to MaNin’s doctor of many years, Dr. Patrice Boddie.
