Leroy Thomas

Leroy Thomas, a loving, compassionate, God-fearing man being the third child born to the late Nellie Mae Thomas and Hazel Lee Thomas on October 24, 1953, in Sparta, Ga.  He departed his earthly life on August 12, 2022.

Leroy was educated in the Hancock County school system, attending Hancock Central High School. After living in Sparta for many years, he moved to Atlanta, GA, and New York City.   Leroy joined New Beulah Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully singing in various choirs in the church.  He later in life joined Apostolic Faith Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries under Pastor Lillie Tripp where he was an active and faithful member.

He was an entrepreneur at an early age and later worked in construction.  He drove nice cars and was a sharp dresser and enjoyed talking to people.  He loved music, he was always singing or whistling a song. His favorite saying was “God is good all the time…” no matter what time or day you are talking to him.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Mae Thomas and Hazel Lee Thomas, sister Nancy Butts and son, Leroi Watkins.

He leaves a loving family to cherish his memories:  six children Marcellus Ramaro Thomas (Tamea) of Lakeland, FL., Pertrinia Roach of Lithonia, GA, Candra Thomas of Milledgeville, GA, Yo’Rel Thomas of Milledgeville, GA, Recardo Hunt (Akellah) of Sparta, GA and Devony Thomas of Richmond, VA.  Two brothers, Eddie Roy (Beverly) Thomas of Sparta, GA, and Amos (Lillie)Thomas of Macon, GA., fifteen Grandchildren - Anaya Thomas, Marcellus Thomas Jr., Ahbreanna Bell, Ayanna Bell, Aiden Copeland, Austin Copeland, Yo’Ryah Ross, Jorden Lundy, Havyn Lundy, J’Halie Watkins, Javyn Watkins, Braylon Watkins, Rekhiyis Hunt, Ravyn Hunt, Paris Hunt.

He leaves a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, family, and friends whose heart have been blessed by his journey on this side.
