Jessie James Battle was born July 26, 1934 to the late Eugene Battle and Rosa Lee Pounds. He departed his earthly life on December 18, 2016, peacefully in the comfort of his home. He entered into holy matrimony to the late Annie Ray Yarbough Battle on January 7, 1961 and was a devoted father of four beautiful daughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Battle and Rosa Lee Pounds; his devoted and loving wife, Annie Ray Yarbough Battle; four brothers Robert Battle, Clarance Battle, Louise Battle, and Lemans Bell; and three sisters, Helen Hill, Nancy Battle, and Hester Battle.

His memories will be forever cherished by his four beautiful daughters, Dorothy (Ronny) Samuels and Jessie Ann Battle both of Warrenton, GA; Mamie (Gary) Bouttry and Lou Jean (Casper) Battle both of Thomson, GA; and one son Willie Reese Sr. of Warrenton, GA; one brother Joseph Battle of Warrenton, GA; one sister, Lucinda Peaton of Poughkeepsie, NY: one brother-in-law, Henry King Sr. of Warrenton, GA.; one sister-in-law Alberta (Clinton) Rogers of Warrenton, GA; nine grandchildren,  Emanuel Heard, Patrick Battle all of Warrenton, GA.; Jonathan Tarver of Grovetown, GA.; Ophelia (Timothy) Turman and Quintrilla Jackson, both of Thomson, GA.; Alexis Samuels of Augusta, GA.; Willie Reese Jr.; David Reese, an Nikkia Reese all of Warrenton, GA.; and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, and friends.
