Life Reflections
“Jesse Harper,” as he was known by his family and friends, was called home to eternal rest on July 24, 2024, at his residence.
Jesse was the fourth son of the late Mr. Wilbert Harper and Mrs. Mary Ida Lanier-Harper, who preceded him in death along with his one daughter, Tameka Lundy; four sisters, Elnora Harper, Daisy Mosley, Burena (Bee) Lampley, and Ethel Mae Clinton; eleven brothers, Nathaniel (Fish), William (Mann), Willie (Mutt), Lovick (Biggie), Roosevelt (Bell), Joseph, Frank, Bennie, Jimmy, David, and Wilbert Harper.
He was educated in the Hancock County school system and graduated in 1977. Jesse joined Hunt’s Chapel AME Church at an early age, then later in life, he moved to New York and continued to be involved in church. After returning to Georgia in 1999, he rededicated his life to Hunt’s Chapel Church as a faithful member until God called him home.
Jesse was an OVER THE ROAD TRUCK DRIVER with CRST & Heartland for many years where he received SAFE DRIVER AWARDS and was later employed with the Hancock County Road Department.
Jesse was a loving and fun person to be around, always joking and making you laugh; he was very outgoing and happy. He was the family comedian. There was never a dull moment around him.
In 2003, he was joined in holy matrimony to Kathy S. Ivey-Harper as they were reunited from high school friends. They shared 21 wonderful years of marriage and special moments together.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Kathy S. Ivey[1]Harper; two daughters, Jessica Harper of Baylor, WV, and Alisha Elliott of Sparta, GA; four sons, Rick Morris of Sparta, GA, Joel Anthony and Maurice LaDelle of Cols, OH, and Emil Greene of New York; three sisters, Lucy Warren of Chester, PA, Mary Harper of Conyers, and Mae Julia (Ulysses) Lundy of Sparta, GA; four sisters-in-law, Vanessa Cheathem, Reva Williams, Mildred Duggan, and Rosetta Harper, all of Sparta, GA; four brothers-in-law, Timothy Duggan, Ulysses Lundy, both of Sparta, GA, and Charles Duggan and Lucious Abram, both of Augusta GA; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that he showed much love too. He loved his family.
