Eric Matthew Chatman

Eric Matthew Chatman Sr, was born to John Hawkins and Marguerite Chatman on June 24th, 1975, in Philadelphia, PA. he passed on May 1st, 2024, in Sparta, Georgia.

Eric was educated in the West Philadelphia School District. He went to culinary school and was an excellent cook. He never went to school to be an electrician, but it seemed as though he did.

He could wire, repair, and create ANYTHING. When he was 14, he took apart a radio and a house telephone and made a “speaker phone, that’s how creative he was. He also loved remote-controlled cars, building, and racing them. They were a stress reliever and something he was interested in since childhood. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed family time. On July 3rd, 2001, he married Lois, and they had two boys within their union. Lois had two children prior to their marriage but to Eric, they are and will forever be his!!!. He loved Marriage, and fatherhood was the most important part of his life. Eric will be deeply missed by his wife, children, family, friend and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother; Marguerite Chatman; father; John Hawkins; Grandmother; Normadene Poulson; grandfathers; Henry Poulson and Louis Chatman Sr.; aunt; Beverly Poulson and Nephew; Terrance Wilder.

Eric is survived by his wife; Lois Chatman; his children: Anthony Daransky, Tiffany Daransky, Eric Chatman Jr. and Tyshawn Chatman; grandchildren: Za’Niyah LaGuines, Alaya LaGuines, ZaCari LaGuines, Davion LaGuines and Jiraiya Mathew Scott Daransky; Uncle; Louis Chatman (Brenda), aunt; Betty Harris; brother Rodney Williamson (Stacey); sister; Monique Green (Stanford); Nephew; Mark Wilson Jr.; Niece; Ciara Williamson; a host of cousins and Special Friends.

Memorial service arrangement for Eric are being planned now and the family will make an announcement as soon as it is scheduled.
