Deacon Eddie Byrd was born on October 11, 1937 to the late Lonzie and Ethel Byrd in Fayetteville, GA. He was the fifth of nine siblings (six proceeded him in death). He departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2017.

Deacon Eddie Byrd honorably served in the US Army for several years. Upon moving to Norwood, he joined Andrew Chapel CME Church where he proudly served on the Board of Deacons. He was a devoted family man; married to Mrs. Annie Ruth Byrd, and father of fourteen children (one son Ronnie preceded him in death).

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Annie Ruth; seven sons: Eddie Jr, Dujan, Timothy, Antonio, Edwin, Rico, Milton; six daughters: Tammy, Shanitka, Ethel Mae, Delores, Denise, Shimeka; two sons- in- law; five daughters –in-law; two brother: Roy (Pat), twin brother Edgar (Liz); a devoted granddaughter, Shanoris; forty-six grandchildren; several great-grandchildern, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many sorrowful friends.
