Dr. Bradford Brown Obituary

Bradford George Brown was born the son of James and Almeda Brown on July 11, 1950.

Affectionately known as Brad; he was without a doubt his dad’s favorite. He was born and reared in the red clay hills of Athens, Georgia. He was a 1968 honors graduate of Burney Harris High School. After high school, he attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating with honors in 1972. He continued this path of excellence as he moved forth to become the first Black chief resident at the Medical College of Georgia and University Hospital in Augusta. Paving a path in healthcare, he continued onto the University of Michigan and Louisiana State University. This led him to become chief resident of the largest hospital in the United States, Big Hope Charity in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he prescribed, in addition to local hospitals in the Lake Charles area. He then returned home to help care for his aging parents and fulfill his mission to serve mankind in medicine.

He launched his practice, established multiply sites, renovated an antebellum home by converting it to an office, built and operated a state-of-the-art medical center, bought and operated a radio station, met and married the love of his life, and continued to serve God and his fellow man. Ultimately, his love of God resulted in him becoming a minister and serving God until the day God called His beloved son home.

When he departed this Earth, he was welcomed into the Kingdom by his heavenly family who preceded him in death, which included parents, James and Almeda Brown; brother, Dr. Martin L. Brown; sister, Lina Parthenia Brown, Tyler A. Byrd God Daughter, Jestin D. Dunn God Son; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Angela Marie Tucker-Brown of Sparta, Georgia; sisters, Elzata Brown of Madison, Georgia, and Elizabeth Brown Fisher and Dr. Barbara Brown Geter (Melvin), both of Athens, Georgia; mother-in-law, Rose “G Momma” Tucker of Sparta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Leon Tucker (Sallie) of Milledgeville, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Viola Huff (William) and Lavone Tucker, both of Sparta, Georgia, and Connie Tucker (Dennis) of Milledgeville, Georgia Nephew Martin L.
