Douglas Ficklin Obituary

In the early hours of the morning on July 4th, the Lord came and whispered to Douglas “Butch “Ficklin “My child you have fought a good fight and now its time to receive your heavenly reward.” Butch receives the Lord calling and took his flight to his Heavenly home. Douglas Ficklin, affectionally known as Butch, was born to the parentage of late John and Iris Ficklin on June 14, 1963.

At an early age, Butch joined the Millrock Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the kitchen committee until his health declined as a cook. Before joining the kitchen committee, he also served as the section of the church working with his father and Big Daddy.

Butch was educated in the Warren County School System and graduated with the Class of 1982. After graduating he worked for some years at Jebco Inc until he transitioned to Timberland Lumber Company. He worked faithfully for over 20 years at Timberland until his health failed. Butch had many hobbies which included fishing, grilling especially during football season. He loved tailgating with the boys, but his most precious moments were spoiling his nieces and nephews and listening to them sing at church and family functions.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; Geraldine, Annie Ruth, Betty Jean, Pauline, Iris, John III (Sonny), Marlene, Mattie and Annette.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted wife of 37 years Julie A. Ficklin, three sisters Min.
