Ms. Carolyn Spires, aka Spike, Fatty, or MaBae, was born in Stewart, FL, on March 2, 1946, to the late Adella Lamar and Booker T Spires. She was the middle child of three siblings. Carolyn accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a devoted member of Brown Chapel AME Church in Sparta, GA, and attended Grace Fellowship of Augusta in Augusta, GA.
Carolyn worked at Hancock Central High School for thirteen years as a cook. She also worked at Providence Health Care Nursing Home in Sparta, GA. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, and cooking for others. Everyday she would talk to her aunt, Ethel Bundrage, and cousin, Jimmy Lumpkin. If you knew her, she was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet.
Carolyn was preceded in death by: her parents, Adella Lamar and Booker T. Spires; her brother, Jimmy Spires; and her son, Jimmy Lee Spires. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Calvin (Tiffany) Spires, Sr., of Cherry Hill, NJ; like a son, Jerome (Gina) Warren of Sandersville, GA; one daughter, Frankie (Steven) Spires of Augusta, GA; six grandchildren, Chavares Battle of Augusta, GA, Travis (Wendy) Spires of Hudson, FL, Calvin Spires, Jr., of Philadelphia, PA, Jayden Spires of Cherry Hill, NJ, Tristyn Spires of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Shacorria Spires of Augusta, GA; four great-grandchildren, Terriah Battle of Milledgeville, GA, Chavares Battle, Jr., of Milledgeville, GA, Chavarion Battle of Sparta, GA, and Cali Spires of Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Betty Warren of Sparta, GA; two nephews, Troy (Lisa) Spires of Milledgeville, GA, and Roy (Cathy) Warren of Sparta, GA; one niece, Jada (John) Preston of Port St. Lucia, FL; a loving dog, Krissy Spires; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
