Carlton Ransom Sr. was born on December 25, 1950, as the youngest son of James Sr. and Rutha Mae Ransom. He was affectionately known as “Bo” to his family and friend.
Carlton was a graduate of Hancock Central High School’s class of 1969. He continued his education at Georgia Military College. He served in the United State Air Force and Air Force National Guard, where he retired as a Technical Sergeant after serving our country for over 39 years.
He was employed at BH Transfer until the time of his passing.
Carlton was a member of Brown Chapel A.M.E Church, where he served as a Steward, the Treasurer, and the adult Sunday School teacher. He also provided church/ground maintenance for a period of time.
Carlton was a wise and kind-hearted man with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed family gatherings filled with jokes and laughter, studying the Bible, taking lone walks and talking with his neighbors, gardening and lawn care, and mingling with his classmates.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Rutha Ransom: siblings, Jimmy Ransom, James Ransom Jr, Seabon Ransom, Charles Ransom, Walter Ransom, Sr., Mattie Ransom, and Virginia Abrams; and grandson, Tre’on T. Ransom.
Carlton’s love and legacy will live on through his beloved wife of 44 years, Albert J. Ransom; daughter, Temisha Ransom-Baker; son Trevis (Stefanie) Ransom, Theondra (Calandra) Ransom, Cedric Bell, Tywan Williams, and Carlton Ransom, Jr.; and grandchildren, Temiah Baker, Tramise Ransom, Jalen Baker, Kendall Ransom, Novah Ransom, T’Andre Alexander, Krishun Williams, Shavoris Williams, and Felicia Baker.
His life’s memories will also be cherished by his brother, Marvin (Mammie) Ransom; sisters Louise Griggs, Shirley Barnes, and Jeanette Johnson; mother-in-law, Roberta Jones; sisters-in-law, Patricia Chatman and Sherry (Kenneth) Powell, brother-in-law, Gregory (Annette) Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
His friendship with be remembered by his longtime military buddy Percy Kelly.
