Welcome to the memorial page for

Beatrice Mapp

February 7, 1918 ~ January 6, 2017 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Beatrice Green Mapp was one of eight children born to the late Henry and Marie Green in Hancock County, Georgia on February 7, 1918. Her Mother died when she was very young and her father later married Obelia Hall. Henry and Obelia raised 10 children which included two daughters from their union.

On August 31, 1935, Beatrice Green married Ernest Mapp. Together they had six children. She was a caring, strong, and hardworking lady who loved flowers and had one of the most beautiful flower gardens in the area. She truly loved the Lord, prayed often, enjoyed attending church, was an excellent cook, a superb caregiver and gave so much of herself to others that she will not soon be forgotten.

While at Christian City, people often used the word “sweet” when talking about her. She smiled often and endeared herself to the staff at the facility. She never complained, was appreciative of everything anyone did on her behalf and always wanted to know when her visitors would come back to see her again.  It was truly a blessing that so many of her family and friends understood how much she appreciated their visitations.

Beatrice was preceded to Glory by her parents, Henry, Marie and Obelia Green; her husband Ernest Mapp, children Cleveland Mapp and Carolyn Mayo; siblings, Mabel Pierce, Minnie Kilpatrick, Booker T. Green, Herbert Hoover Green, Jack Green, Lillian Binns, Grady Mae Parrott and Willie Lee Green.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Irma I. Barksdale (William), Leon Mapp (Diane), John W. Mapp (Patricia), and Vivian D. Mapp; one sister, Hester Mary Rankins; in-laws, Patricia A. Mapp, Clarence Mayo; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
