Barbara Ann Kemp “Shug” was born November 2, 1961, in Augusta, Georgia to the late Bobby Jean Kemp and the late Otis Reynolds, Jr.
Barbara joined Thankful Baptist Church at an early age at which she was a choir member and part of the hospitality staff. Barbara was educated in the Warren County School System, in which she was a graduate of the Class of 1980. Barbara served as a cook for Gibson Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for nearly 30 years before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Johnson.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Shantilla Kemp of Conyers, Georgia and William Porter, Jr., of Jewell, Georgia; five grandchildren, Tristen, Cody, Kyndal, Jacob, and Greyson; three brothers, Bruce (Kimberly Kemp/Margaret Underwood) Kemp, Tony Kemp, and Bruce (Cathy) Robert; three sisters, Celeste Young, Suzanne (Steve) Merriweather, and Charlene (Tracy) Reese; four aunts, Nancy Reynolds, Mildred (Gerald) Davis, Evelyn Reynolds, and Mamie Collins; five uncles, Willie B. (Linda) Kemp, Milton (Jerry Dean) Kemp, George (Rose) Reynolds, Tommy Reynolds, and Leon Reynolds; one great-aunt, Fannie Kemp of Macon, Georgia; a special dedicated cousin, Anita Shivers-Harris; special, dedicated friends, Laverne Miles, Shirley Howard, Frankie Brown, and Anthony Flournoy; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
