A Celebration of Life Well Lived
Anthony Tony Gilchrist was born on February 13, 1968, to the parentage of the late Mr. & Mrs. Marion and Willie Bell Gilchrist. Raised in a home of faith and love, Anthony accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, where he joined Mitchel Chapel AME Church at an early age and served as a faithful member of the choir and steward.
He attended Hancock Central High School and continued his educational journey at Savannah State University. Anthony returned to his alma mater, Hancock Central High School, and began his career in education, serving the youth of Hancock County in the classroom. He then became the Parent Community Involvement Coordinator for the district before going on to serve as a Hancock County Board of Education member for twelve and a half years. Following his tenure as a board member, he returned to his role as the Parent Community Involvement Coordinator for the school district.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Shirley Turner and Patsy T. Doughty, and brothers Michael Turner and Willie M. Gilchrist.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sister Mary (Kelvin) Winkfield; brothers Issac Turner, Melvin Turner, Randolph Turner, Allen Gilchrist, Timothy Gilchrist, Clayton Gilchrist, Michael (Juanita) Simmons, Johnny (Sandra) Simmons; an aunt Luretha Gilchrist Fielding; an uncle Edward Turner; eight nieces; twelve nephews; godson Devin Ivey; and brother in Christ, Marcus Morris.
