In the mid hours of the evening of September 21, 2021, The Lord came, just as he promised and received Annie Ruth Ficklin Dawson unto Himself that where He is there she may be also.
Annie Ruth Ficklin Dawson was born on August 21, 1948 in Warrenton, GA at the home of her parents. Her mother was assisted by a midwife, Mrs. Clementine Rogers. She was born to the parentage of the late John Hudson, Jr. and Iris Levonia Smith Ficklin. She was the oldest of 13 siblings. Her September 21st flight from labor to reward was recorded by the University Hospital Health Care System in McDuffie County GA.
She was preceded in death by 2 of her children Belinda Marie Ficklin and Johnathan Bernard Ficklin, her parents: John and Iris Ficklin, and 6 of her siblings: 4 sisters: Geraldine Ficklin, Betty Jean Ficklin, Mattie Clara Ficklin Wingfield, Annette Ficklin Ruff, and one brother John Hudson Ficklin, III.
Annie Ruth Joined the Millrock Baptist Church at an early age and actively served until her health failed. She was a devoted member in good standings. Her serving capacities included: Church Clerk, Missionary Worker, Choir member and Pastor Support Ministry. She was known for her nursing and medical skills when needed during services.
She attended the Millrock Church School House and The Warren County Elementary and High School. She graduated with the class of 1967 at the Germantown Central High School in Germantown New York. She completed the Nursing Assistance Program at The Philmont College in Philmont New York in 1969. Over the years, she was employed at The Warren County Nursing Home in Warren County and later moved to Macon Georgia where she studied in an on the job training program at the Macon Medical Center where she became a licensed Respiratory Therapist. Annie worked at the Macon Medical Center until she retired to rear her four grandchildren that lost their mother in a car accident in 2002.
Annie Ruth Ficklin Dawson was born an anointed Caregiver. She worked in all places that required caring for someone else beside her self. She cared for individuals in her home alone, in the church, in the nursing home in the hospital or wherever she found herself. She loved caring for others. She was also one of the world’s greatest grandmothers. She was a very hard worker and worked endlessly to ensure that her grands and great grands receive the best care she could give. Her hobbies included making cakes of all kind and doing cross word puzzles. She also volunteered with Quality of Life association, Inc./ Family Connection and was a member of the Warren County Circle of Care Cancer support team. She loved contributing to her community and serving God’s people. Our last very memorable moment with Annie was her big 70th birthday 3 years ago at the Johnson Community Center. She spent her last 3 years in Thomson Health and Rehabilitation Center, Doctor’s Hospital, Select Hospital and the Warren County Health & Rehabilitation Center and 3 days a week at the Dialysis Center. We appreciate everyone who played a role in Annie’s Health Care. Annie Fought a Good Fight and she kept the Faith She loved to hear Mathias and Roosevelt Jones sing, “Lord you been so good me. I don’t know what I would do, but If I had wings like a morning dove y’all know I’d fly away and be at rest”. Annie received her wish on Tuesday evening 9/21/2021 at 4:43 P. M.
She leaves to Celebrate her life and cherish her memories one daughter Barbara Ann (Fred) Cummings, her six grandchildren 4 of whom she reared as her own, Brian Ficklin, Jalicia Ficklin, Jacquavious Ficklin all of Warrenton, Shakuria Ficklin of Cordele GA, Shontavious Ficklin of Ravens New York, Montavious Cummings, Atlanta GA. and 7 great Grands Jaacei Hicks, Chloe Clark, Jaadyn Heath, Jordyn Heath, Kianna Ficklin, Tamyra Upshaw, And Alyssa Ficklin, Six Sisters: Pauline (James) Wilson, Minister Emma (Kenneth) Sinkfield, Iris (Johnny) Bray, Catherine Hudson, Marlene Hudson, Gloria (Pastor Lyndon) Heath, one brother Douglas “Butch” (Julie) Ficklin all of Warren County, Georgia. A Devoted Cousin who was closer than a brother Pastor Henry C. Ficklin of Macon GA. Two Aunts: Sarah Smith, Brunswick Georgia, Katherine Bradley-Killeen Texas, A host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Millrock Church Family
