Wilbert Hampton passed away peacefully the evening of January 2nd after gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family the last days of his life. 

Wilbert was born in Deveraux Ga to the late Jonas and Leola Hampton on July 15, 1929.

Wilbert married his long time love Ruthie Mae Hampton early on in life. They shared 35 years of marriage together.

Wilbert worked as a Logger for most of his life. His interest included gardening, fishing, hunting, riding his bicycle, and spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  nine children, Wilbert Hampton Jr., Paul Hampton (Barbara), Jonas Hampton (Jenny), Delois Cambor (Gary), Ronnie Hampton (Carolyn), Mary Hampton, Nathaniel Hampton, Carl Hampton, and Frankie Hampton (Willie); four sisters, Gloria Jean Davenport, Marion Jean Cummings, Thelma Owens, and Eva Mae Barnes; twenty four grandchildren and seventy one great-grandchildren, dedicated nephew David Sherman Jr; a host of nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend Tommie Boyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter Lilian Grable, his sons David Hampton, and baby Hampton; his twin Willie Hampton; his brothers Richard Hampton and Billie Hampton;  and his sisters Ruby Flagg and Gladys Sherman
