Magnolia B. Roberson was born to the late Sid and Lillie Blount on December 13, 1914 in Sparta, Georgia. She departed this life at her residence on September 8, 2019 at the age of 104.
During her time on earth, Magnolia worked as a housekeeper, in which she also cared for several children in the Hancock County area. She joined Lundy’s Chapel AME Church at an early age, where she served the Lord faithfully until its closing. Afterwards, she moved her membership to Pleasant Grove AME Church where she continued to serve the Lord. She was a faithful member until her health began to decline.
Magnolia was preceded in death by her husband Percy Roberson, Sr., two sons El-bert Roberson and Percy Roberson, Jr., a daughter Elizabeth Roberson, and three great-grandchildren Kenya Shanta, Antonio Kelly, and Shanta Chapman.
She leaves to cherish her memories seven children, Lillie Julia Watkins, Mattie (Linton) Birston, Minnie Roberson, Magnolia Roberson and Susie (Willie) Mitchell – all of Sparta, Georgia. Mable (Charles) White of Avondale, Georgia; Edward (Mary) Roberson of Decatur, Georgia and one sister Mattie McCoy of Chattanooga, Tennessee; 34 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, 42 great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives. We thank God for six generations shared with the matriarch of the Roberson family.
We extend a special thanks to Minister Joycelyn Huff, Teresa Kell, James Lawrence, Charles Harrel, Lashonda Reynolds, Prime Care Home Health and Staff, Serenity Hospice Care and Staff, Dr. Kimberly Phillips and Staff, Mattie Jackson and Clara Thomas, and all those who extended their care and thoughts. Special thanks to those who took the time to ask, “how is your mom?”
