Margaret Robertson

Annie Margaret Robertson “Margaret” was born in Sparta, Georgia on November 15, 1934.  She entered Heaven’s gates on February 22, 2018.

A consummate mother and homemaker, Margaret cared for her children and worked as a domestic worker in New Canaan, Connecticut.  After moving back to Sparta, Georgia in the 1970’s she worked in the Hancock County School System for over thirty years.

Margaret loved to watch any Steve Harvey show and The Wendy Show.  She also loved working on puzzles and playing games with her family.  

Margaret had an unwavering faith in God and was a certified member of the Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Excelsior Chapter No. 53, Sparta, Georgia.  She was a dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church for many years.  She served on the Church’s Missionary Board and assisted with numerous fundraising events.

Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest Robertson and her eight brothers and sisters; Gladys Clayton, Leroy Mitchell, Anita Williams, Charles Mitchell, Alton Mitchell, Doretha Robinson, Jeanette Mitchell, and Loretta James.

Margaret is survived by her son, Gregory Mitchell and his wife Vicki, and her son Kenneth Mitchell; four grandchildren, Rashaun Mitchell, Andre Mitchell, Dominique Mitchell, and Devon Hubbard;  three great-grandchildren, Makayla, Brianna, and Mariah Hubbard and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and friends.

Her niece, Sammeshia Buchanan lovingly cared for her the last five years of her life by visiting with her regularly, laughing and cutting up while they played card games together.  And her very best friend Hubert Mills called her faithfully every day, and she looked forward to his bible study sessions in the evenings.  The family thanks them and everyone else who cared for Margaret.
