Reflections of Life
Elissa (Lisa) Bernadette Shaw-Darden was born to the parents of James A. Shaw and Berniece Jackson on May 01, 1966 in Augusta, Georgia.
Elissa began her education in Brooklyn, NY and later returned to Sparta, Georgia to Hancock Central High School, where she graduated in 1984. She continued her education at Atlanta Metropolitan College, Atlanta, GA, with a major in Secretarial Science and later pursued a degree in Political Science. She was employed as a secretary for the city of Atlanta in Corrections and Procurement, later by the Bank of America in Client Services.
Elisssa began her spiritual walk in life at the age of 13 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. L. T. Crawford.
God called her to eternal home on May 25, 2019. She became a Juvenile Diabetic at 10 years of age and fought a long battle of disabilities while trying to maintain a normal lifestyle. She never gave up the battle of this thief of a disease and continued to fight until the end.
She enjoyed singing, cooking, spending time and holidays with family, reading her bible, and various other books, attending and fellowshipping in the church. She received her Ministerial
Ordainment in 2004 and loved to worship and deliver God’s Word.
Elissa leaves to celebrate her life, daughter, Ja’nisha Willis(Nadya); granddaughter, Ce’Drece Willis; mother, Berniece J. Smith; sister, Letrissa Frieson; brother Jameyan B. Smith; step-father, James W. Smith; aunt, Devida Cason; uncles, Calvin Dunn, Decatur, GA; Darin Johnson, Brooklyn, NY; Willie James Jackson, Atlanta, GA, Thomas Wingfield, Sparta, GA; special aunts, Mattie Alston and Georgia Brown, Summerville, SC and a host of cousins, extended sisters and special friends.
